It’s easy to get behind in doing routine maintenance on your vehicle, but there are some tasks you should never neglect. The safety of you, your passengers and surrounding drivers is paramount, so make sure to stay current on any brake maintenance you need.
Brake pads clamp on your spinning wheels to slow your vehicle, connected to the brake pedal via a hydraulic line. Every 25,000 to 50,000 miles, your brake pads will wear thin and need replacing. The exact timing is difficult to predict and is different for every driver, depending on driving style and typical driving conditions. It’s a good idea to have them inspected frequently, such as every time you have your tires rotated, to ensure they’re working properly.
The fluid in your brake lines will also need replacing every few years, as well as any air trapped in the line.
