Keeping your vehicle at its best requires consistent maintenance and monitoring your tire health is one of the most important parts. Tires effect many different aspects of your vehicle from fuel efficiency to comfort and while your tires don’t require much maintenance you should check them regularly for a few things.

Maintain Tire Pressure

One of the easiest and most efficient ways to maintain your tires ability to work properly is to keep your tires pressure at the recommended level. When your tires are under pressurized they run a higher risk of punctures and abnormal wear patterns, even worse your vehicle gets worse gas mileage. When you measure your tire pressure make sure to do so before you start driving for the day, as you drive the tires will get hotter and make you think your vehicle has adequate pressure.

Use the Penny Test

Using the penny test is a simple way to check the tread of your tires. You take a penny and flip it so that Lincoln's head is facing down toward the tire, if you can see the top of his head then you need new tires. When you administer this test, make sure to check all four tires and different spots of your tires to ensure that there are no irregular wear.
