All About Four Wheel Drive

Everyone knows that four-wheel drive is for when the going gets tough. Not everyone knows that there are different types of four-wheel drive, and that they should be applied at different times.

The first type of 4WD to be aware of is four-high, commonly abbreviated as 4H. In 4H, you can drive at a normal speed. This setting is a great choice for challenging on-road driving, for example, when there's ice or snow on a normal road.

The second type of 4WD is four-low, abbreviated as 4L. Four-low is for the next-level challenges. Driving in deep sand or mud, up or down steep hills and through water is when you need 4L. When you're using 4L, you should be going slow. This will help apply more torque as you're driving.

At Gillman Honda Houston our team has the knowledge to answer all of your questions about your four-wheel drive vehicle.
