Understanding Vehicle LATCH Systems

Families having infants or young children often secure safety seats using seat belts. However, newer vehicles feature LATCH systems that offer greater security. The synonym stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children. The devices are installed in a number of our Houston vehicles. See the options by exploring our inventory.

The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, or IIHS, regularly evaluates LATCH systems and rates them from good to poor based on the organization's findings. The anchors or tethers must be installed in specific locations on or behind the rear seat. They must also be easily accessed. Each attachment must not exceed the limits of physical movement in order to ensure that seats are securely attached.

The devices must also not be located too close to other hardware that might cause confusion. Stop in at our Gillman Honda Houston and inspect the LATCH systems. Indulge in a test drive.
